General Dashboard View:
The dashboard gives a general overview of the total number of assets and licenses (deployed and undeployed), accessories and consumables*. The top part of the screen gives a graphical view/snapshot of the general overall inventory. Clicking on any of these boxes will give a full listing of each category (i.e. Total assets will giving a full listing of all assets ever recorded in SAM)
*Because consumables are no longer managed by the IT department, this can be ignored.
Recent Activity Listing
There's also the a "Recent Activity" listing, that logs activity based on any changes made (by logged-in users) to inventory, licenses or accessories in SAM.
Assets by Status
This graphical view, shows assets in inventory, in their different states. Currently there are 9 categories:
- Pending (sometimes referred to assets that may have been temporarily been removed. The asset may or may not return to service. This category is not really to be used, as the more accurate status would be: Ordered | Being delivered)
- Ready to deploy (this category refers to assets that are available/not used)
- Archived (asset no longer being used and is taken out of service)
- In Service (assets that are currently in service)
- Lost/Disabled (assets that have been deemed lost. This category is usually reserved for tracking lost fobs, and the users that they have been assigned to)
- In storage (asset that have been pulled from service, that MAY be re-deployed at a later time. i.e. asset may need to be repaired or assets full functions no longer available but can be utilized elsewhere. Common example: printer that can print duplex but can no longer do so, but can be deployed as single-sided printer only)
- To be recycled (assets taken out of service to be recycled. Usually the asset is damaged beyond repair or has become too cost-prohibitive to repair. Assets that are categorized as "recycled" are automatically ARCHIVED by SAM)
- Returned to Manufacturer (assets returned to manufacturer under warranty. This can be either for repair and returned, or the asset would be swapped for a entirely new one)
- Ordered | Being delivered (asset that is on order being delivered. SAM will assign assets in this category under Pending)
